No Test Chest Pain: Reclaiming Scientific Integrity
Publications Category : Emergency Medicine
Author(s): Mark Mosley
Project Description : The greatest morbidity and mortality among our current physicians are the lack of desire and even an inability to tell the truth. Ironically, our “burnout” is being caused by “the lights not being on.” Our acquiescence to “check box medicine” and the automation of medical commerce, measured by metrics, makes us exactly the same as nurse practitioners or physician assistants and worse than AI—except that physicians are more expensive and require health insurance. The practice of not thinking critically, and then blaming our behavior on the “boogie man” (lawyer, administrator, patient, admitting physician, etc), is exactly what is making physicians of poor value in medicine.
