Project Description : Palmiero and Figueiredo present a valuable synthesis of cervical spine clearance evidence across adult and pediatric trauma populations (1). Their tiered framework, which combines clinical clearance for cooperative adults satisfying Canadian C-Spine Rule criteria, computed tomography (CT)–based clearance for unreliable examinations, and targeted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for neurologic discordance or indeterminate findings, is pragmatic and consistent with contemporary trauma practice. Several methodological issues, however, influence how these recommendations should be interpreted and applied at the bedside.
